POSITION TITLE: Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic

JOB STATUS: Full-time


Job Summary

As the Refrigeration Mechanic you will provide high-quality workmanship while servicing equipment at our Red Deer production facility.


  • Maintain refrigeration or air conditioning systems and components
  • Install and calibrate related controls and compressors
  • Maintain clean and operable equipment
  • Troubleshoot systems, suggesting and taking corrective actions
  • When there is a malfunction, diagnose the problem and fix the unit by replacing or repairing controls and compressors or other parts
  • Complete the required daily equipment inspections
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Exercise sound judgment and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Mechanical aptitude and technical expertise of a Journeyman
  • Ability to work well under pressure, individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to take the initiative and work independently
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, comfortable in dealing with vendors, suppliers, and co-workers
  • Safety conscious
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Only ticketed journeymen will be considered for this position. A copy of journeyman ticket will be required to be submitted prior to any employment offer.
  • Ammonia experience
  • Experience in a refrigerated plant
  • Proof of residency
  • Gas ticket is an asset



Education/Experience Required

  • Journeyman Refrigeration Mechanic

  • Prior experience in a hog barn preferred
