Refrigeration / Ammonia Maintenance Foreman

(Position reports to Maintenance Manager)

 

Job Description / Essential Functions

Coordinates work activities, inspect and review for quality control and environmental standards, aids in plant projects and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage maintenance employees daily activities to ensure uninterrupted production
  • Including employee’s hours: ensuring minimal overtime.
  • Ensure all documentation is available upon request by governing bodies in accordance with OH&S regulation.
  • Be well informed of changes to regulation that may potentially affect the operations of this facility, as well as, the safety of the boiler and refrigeration systems, the employees within the plant, the environment and surroundings of this facility.
  • Be involved with disciplinary actions, after consulting with Human Resources and Head of Operations,
  • May take part in interviews for potential candidates
  • Apply the theory, technique, principles, and processes related to practical problems with Industrial Refrigeration Systems.
  • Knowledge of the Collective Agreement and working in a unionized environment.

 

Qualifications

ABSA approved minimum 3rd class Power Engineer.

  • Must have production area knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexibility in terms of work hours
  • Ability to meet or beat deadlines and schedules
  • Ability to work well independently and with other departments in an ever-changing work environment
  • Knowledge of SQF standards and have completed a HACCP training course.
  • Understanding of Industrial Refrigeration Systems or Ticketed Operator (Mechanic)                 (Running Active Capacity) of 32 tons)Shift: Afternoon shift 5 days per week (flexible to move shifts)
