POSITION TITLE: Kill Floor Q.A. Technician

SHIFT: Day/Afternoon/Night

JOB STATUS: Full-time

ESTABLISHMENT: Red deer


(Position reports to QA Manager and QA Coordinator)

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Validation of HIP
  • Monitoring of GMP’s on production floors, storage and welfare areas.
  • Management and assessment of product to be reworked.
  • Verification and Monitoring of CCP’s: Carcass Inspection, Offal Inspection, and Temperatures and Pre-shipment review.
  • Monitoring of new product specs and packaging.
  • Monitoring of packaging materials
  • Monitoring of product identification
  • Verification of sanitation on the production floor, storage and welfare areas.
  • Pre-operational inspections.
  • Monitoring of equipment that are temperature sensitive (Pasteurizer).
  • Monitor sanitizer temperatures.
  • Monitoring of shipping dock and trailers.
  • Monitoring of metal detector.
  • Monitoring of denaturing areas.
  • Grading and assessment of carcasses, by marking and entering data in the computers (Grader 1 & 2, HH1, HH2 and Re-trim).
  • Complete HACCP, SQF and quality related paperwork.
  • Participate in meetings and ensure the training of employees.
  • Work with foremen to ensure a safe and quality product.
  • Report to QA Manager and KF QA Coordinator on daily findings.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification/Requirements

  • Must have working knowledge of HACCP and its application in the food industry.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  • Able to influence and engage effectively will all levels of production and distribution.
  • Creative and solution based problem solving skills.
  • Result oriented, focused on business needs.
  • Highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Must be available for all shifts and on weekends.
  • Proficiency in English - spoken writing, reading and comprehension essential.

Tools and Equipment Used

  • Pen and paper for documentation
  • Computers
  • Thermometer

Required PPE

  • Safety shoes, hard hat, hair net, vinyl gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses

Training

  • SQF/HACCP training, Hazard assessment, Competency skill training, Specific task training.

 

 


Education/Experience Required

High school diploma preferred.
