POSITION TITLE: Health & Safety Coordinator Cornwall

JOB STATUS: Full-time

ESTABLISHMENT: Cornwall

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting a culture of prevention in the plant. They will work with all parties (members of human resources department, supervisors, employees, and union) in order to identify risks of workplace accidents and occupational disease and propose effective measures to achieve accident and incident reduction objectives. They must also be at ease when interacting with employees and be present on the production floor. The Health and Safety Coordinator will coordinate the activities of the Joint Health and Safety Committee.  The Health and Safety Coordinator also manages quality by ensuring compliance with HACCP/SQF and applies hygiene regulations and good manufacturing practices.

• Participate on the Joint Health & Safety Committee, coordinate and follow-up on all safety items;
• Advise management and coach supervisors and employees on safety best practices and compliance;
• WSIB claims management, including disputes and appeals;
• Deliver employee safety training;
• Ensure compliance with Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment and any other governing bodies;
• Manage Return to Work program;
• Participate in internal and external audits.

• College Diploma or degree in a related discipline, or equivalent experience;
• Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Proficiency in a computerized environment (Microsoft Office);
• Good teamwork, interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills;
• Analytical ability;
• Bilingualism is an asset.
